I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready for the new week! I wanted to share this video with every one. I can’t remember writing about finger coils in the past two years. I can’t even remember styling my hair this way successfully in the past. I do however remember Laquita’s Finger Coils, her beautiful results and how kind she was to share them with the Texture Playground readers. I attempted finger coils in July, shortly after cutting my hair and again in December. I must admit that I liked the December results better.
Here are my tips (not included in the video) for achieving beautiful finger coils.
1) Take your time. If necessary, do the coils small. I think that was one of my mistakes the first time in July.
2) Use a holding product. The Curls Nurture Cream used in this video both times, provided the hold needed to help the style last from a few days to a week.
3) Moisturize gently. Though the coils may seem invincible , too much tension will cause the style to frizz faster.
4) Avoid water… Until it is time to loosen the coils or to wash it out. Wetting your hair will result in more shrinkage and more puffing. Since the style shrinks a lot on its own, my recommendation is to not wet it.
